This release from early 2019 clearly was outshined by the rerelease of the Infrared 6. Since I already had the 2014 release of those, these Air Jordan 6 Flint aka Flight Nostalgia seemed like a nice new pickup to add to the collection.
Nike has been running with the “vintage” look on shoes for a few months and this pair is no exception. The shoes seem to homage the Air Jordan 7 Flint based off the white, flint grey and purple colorway but adds in some infrared for a little pop. A few kicks including Jordan 3s and 4s have released under the “flight nostalgia” moniker referencing various other old Nike colorways. One standout bit about these sneakers is the little Air Jordan tag on the side, a feature not seen on any 6 before (that I can remember).
As soon as I saw pictures of these, I knew the mostly white and grey upper with black accents would be perfect for either black or light wash jeans. Even grey pants or perhaps khaki colored denim would work as well. Of course, joggers are also a good look with the Jordan 6. Pair any of those up with a black or grey top and maybe layer some white underneath and you have a decent fit with little effort.
While not a particularly hyped shoe or an OG colorway, I think this shoe is dope! I feel like maybe it didn’t get a fair shake from collectors on release, but might wind up being a sought after colorway down the line. Overall I can recommend this shoe if you are a fan of the Jordan VI.
How Are The Materials?
I find the materials on this shoe to be similar to the Turbo Green 1s. There is that same leather with the “vintage” texture added, and the suede is rough and worn. That said, the overall look of the shoe is aided by these elements. So even though the quality is not buttery by any means, it is still acceptable given what this sneaker is going for. I would not buy these based on material quality, rather consider if I like the overall look of the shoe,
How Do They Fit?
These Air Jordan 6 Flint aka Flight Nostalgia fit slightly big, which I find typical of Air Jordan 6s. I would advise sticking true to your regular Nike size, or perhaps going a half size down if you find that a bit too roomy. I personally enjoy the feeling of a little bit of extra room on the 6, and since the toebox has a bit of a slope to it already, the shoe doesn’t come off as looking overly huge.
